Understanding Storage Fee Charges for Mail Items

Understanding Storage Fee Charges for Mail Items

Storage fees for mail items vary among different mailing centers, as they have the authority to determine pricing structures and policies. These mailing centers establish the rates per mail item and decide the duration for which storage remains free before incurring charges.

How Storage Fees Are Determined

The cost of storage fees is influenced by the specific plan you are subscribed to. Since mailing centers set their own pricing, it is essential to review your plan details to understand the applicable storage fees. Additionally, mailing centers specify the number of days a mail item can be stored without charge before a fee is applied.

When Does Storage Begin?

To estimate the storage fees that may be charged, you can check the storage duration starting from the date the mail item is assigned to your portal. You can find this assigned date by navigating to the 'Mail' tab on your dashboard, where you'll see a list of all your mail items and their respective assigned dates.

From the assigned date, review the free storage days included in your service plan. For example, if the free storage period for all mail is 7 days, mail item 20199579 will likely begin accruing storage fees on 1/21/24. After the free period, a fee will be charged weekly if no action is taken on your mail.

Please note that this is just a rough estimate, as the system calculates storage duration down to the hours, minutes, and seconds. However, this estimate will give you a general idea of the storage fees that will be generated in the next billing cycle.

We recommend taking action on your mail promptly and waiting for the next invoice to accurately reflect any storage charges based on your service plan.

Mail Storage Reminder

A red notification line will be displayed on mail items that are either nearing the point of incurring a storage fee or have already been charged.

The storage fee warning will appear 5 days before your free storage period ends. It will display the message: "Mail item is about to incur storage fees"

Identifying Storage Fee Charges

Clicking on the mail item provides further details, including the mail type, which helps determine the storage fee being charged.
